YOKO is a Japanese composer, art director, label producer and organizer who writes, composes, arranges, plays almost all instruments, sings, and mixes and engineers her own recordings.
Her music has been recognized for its brightness, colorful poetry, diversity of motifs, and soft, POP sound elements.
In 2003, while studying at an art college (oil painting course), she performed at a solo exhibition of her paintings, which led her to start singing in bars and live houses. Since then, she has expanded her activities to bars, cafes, live houses, festivals, galleries, international art festivals, and her close friends' rooms. She has been to most of them by herself. She has collaborated with artists from Japan and abroad, and has produced and recorded all of her own music since the beginning of her career.
In 2006, she released her own limited edition CD, which sold out on its first release, and has continued to perform live on her own.
In 2011, she released a CD album "Days with hearts", which was produced for an artist exhibition at the Aomori Museum of Art.
The exhibition was cancelled, but the label KIRIN RECORDS was established and the album was distributed nationwide.
In August 2013, she released her second album, "Singing and Dancing," released from P-VINE.
In April 2015, she released the album "I remember you". In June 2017, she released the album "YOK.".
In 2016, she started working with a band, and has also participated in commercials and TV openings as a solo artist.
In 2019, she released an album "The post pop".
In September 2020, she changed her name from YOK. to YOKO.
She is currently working on music videos.
